The latest edition of the Ceramist Guide North-Holland is out! And it’s an anniversary edition too. So don’t miss out.
For 25 years, this guide has been outlining the diversity of all ceramists in Noord-Holland (“North-Holland” a province in the Netherlands). A handy booklet full of photos, published by the Foundation Keramisten Noord-Holland.
This year with 50 works of the participating ceramic artists. Beautifully designed by Steffie of graphic design agency ‘t Witte Huys. Carefully printed and bound by Prestess Print. It can’t be more “North Holland” than this…
Or can it?
Yes, to pick up the guides I got on my bike last week to fellow ceramist Cock of Atelier de Kruik in Ursem. First, a nice bike ride through the landscape of North-Holland. Then a nice cup of coffee. And finally, I was able to claim my share of the loot. A fresh ink-smelling pile of ceramist guides.

Share the loot?
A handy booklet with 50 photos of the latest ceramics from North Holland. Stay informed and get inspired by the diversity of all contemporary ceramics. Reader beware: texts only in Dutch( but there are a lot of pictures).
My booklets have all been sold, but they are stil available from the board of the Keramisten Noord-Holland.

Bit of history Ceramists Noord-Holland
Well, on an anniversary, you can’t ignore the history. I joined the Ceramists North-Holland in 2010. An enthusiastic bunch of creative people. In addition to the guide, the foundation also provides a clear website and various ceramic exhibitions every year.
During my “tour of duty” as treasurer of the foundation (2014-2016) I threw myself into the archive. I digitized boxes of papers. Then ordered and merged with a variety of floppy disks and data CDs.

A lot of work. Which also gave me a better picture of the history of the association.
“Following the example of the foundation Ceramics Noord-Nederland, we have planned to publish a ceramics guide, to make it easier for the public to find their way to the many ceramics workshops of Noord-Holland.”
With these words, on October 15, 1994, the first board of the Ceramists Noord-Holland, Ank van der Horst, Nel Stam and Eva Vels, invited fellow ceramists to make a guide together: “Ceramists in Noord-Holland”.
After about 8 years, Ank handed over the gavel to Lida Dijkstra-Pastor in 2002. Together with Jannetje van der Wel, they officially founded the Keramisten Noord-Holland Foundation on January 9, 2002. To this day, the foundation is active under the leadership of various chairmen.
The first Ceramist guide
But to get back to the guide, the jubilee of this story. March 1995, the first “Ceramist Guide” was fact:
“Through this guide, we want to introduce you to the unprecedented variety in the field of ceramics. The working environment, the working method and the personal contact with the maker, make the ceramic product all the more valuable. “
(from the preface of the first edition)
