New Ceramic Turtles Born on the wheel

We all deserve ceramic turtles. Unique craft figurines. A happy note during the dark days before Christmas. A small present during the 2nd corona wave. At least I was ready for that. And we can always use a little ceramic friend.

Anyway, I thought it would be nice to spin some turtles on the wheel and share the process. Yes, these gouty reptiles are born on the wheel Every turtle is unique. And not only the turtle is unique, also the finish is exclusive.

Curious how I make them? Then read on…

Ceramic turtles: web stories

Describing my wheel throwing process is an art in itself. Centering, opening, pulling, forming, ribbing and cutting from the hump. It may not tell you anything, but these are the terms I use to articulate my throwing process. And believe me, that’s how my fellow potters talk about it.

I know that a little communication consultant now produces disapproving noises when seeing these kinds of texts. But I don’t want to use contentless slick terms. In addition, I can’t afford someone like that either 🙂

How can I explain it better? With a web story:

Not words but deeds.. Uh.. photos

Pictures say more than words. So I hope that with this photo series I have made it clear what journey the clay makes to be born as a turtle.

And where does the journey end? Right, in my webshop!

And that was a puzzle for me, too. I wanted a general description, but because they are all unique yet have a separate page where you can order them. In WooCommerce (that’s the software that my webshop runs on) you can arrange that with a “grouped” product. But then I had to hide the individual products that were covered (and how do you do that?)

Anyway, I won’t tire you out with that process (and indeed I can’t pay a web designer because for me to settle). Maybe I should turn that into a web story.

Turtles now in my webshop

Anyway, take a look. Be critical of my ceramics… and would like to be a little less critical of the way I offer it for sale in my webshop. Thnx!
