Kurkasa (veritable) friendly collaboration

Kurkasa: everything you need to turn your table into a true garden. Take the feeling from outside inside.

Eric, the founder of Kurkasa, has always been a lover of nature. He is therefore very familiar with the world of Bonsai. This is the Japanese art of cultivated trees in pots.  They are very small pine and juniper trees of breathtaking beauty.

KurkasaThe bonsai masters exhibited their bonsai in special rooms (tokonoma).  This way they could experience the feeling of forest in the living space. These meditative moments are of vital importance in the hustle and bustle of all day.  That is true now more than ever.

(Veritable) friendly product development

How can you absorb the regenerating power of greenery into your life? By integrating the “outdoors” in a natural way  in to your home, just like the bonsai masters of old.

Eric from Kurkasa was looking for a tasteful solution. He chose the most natural and environmentally friendly materials that can be found.

Cork is the flexible base.  This can be complimented to your own taste with various elements.

Kurkasa plants and ceramics

Eric looked me up to elaborate the hand-made ceramic elements. Ceramics that put themselves at the service of greenery. That idea appealed to me enormously.

Plants and ceramics have a very old common tradition. And not only in the bonsai history.

Handmade Aaucers from Kurkasa freshly madeBased on that idea, we started to sketch, draw and test models. After that, new sketches and other drawings followed. We worked on a series of elements that reinforced the concept.

100% natural ceramics

In the end we arrived at different kinds of hand thrown dishes and vases. The dishes (in three different sizes) fit perfectly into the elements of cork.

The vases are multifunctional. They can be used for decorative arrangement of flowers and branches. But they are also watering cans for the care of the plants.

Get the feeling of outside inside

The glazes consist largely of quartz, clay and…. wood ash. This ceramic is not only for the installation of natural greenery in the room or kitchen. The power of the plants has also been used to finish them.
